Version 1.0. Effective 19 August 2026. Reviewed at least annually.

1. Purpose and scope

SoulMatcher is an invitation-style matchmaking service for adults who are looking for a long-term relationship. Users create a profile, take optional personality assessments and may communicate with other users after a mutual expression of interest (double opt-in).

This Policy governs all user-generated content on the service: profile photos, profile text (name, username, occupation, “about me”), links to social accounts, chat messages, support requests and any other material a user submits. It applies to every user on every platform (iOS, Android, web) and to every member of the Company's moderation team.

This Policy operationalises Section 6 (“Your Content Posted on or transferred via the SoulMatcher. Moral and Ethical Rules”) of the published Terms of Service (https://soulmatcher.app/terms-of-service/) and is read together with the Privacy Policy (https://soulmatcher.app/privacy-policy/) and the Age Verification Policy (https://soulmatcher.app/age-verification-policy/).

2. Prohibited content and conduct

The following are prohibited and are removed when detected, whether reported by a user or found by the Company:

2.1 Sexual content and nudity. Nudity, sexually explicit or pornographic imagery, sexualised depictions of any kind, and text descriptions of sexual services. SoulMatcher is not an adult-content service: it hosts no pornographic material, no webcam or pay-per-view content, and no adult performers.

2.2 Commercial sexual services. Escort services, prostitution, sugar-dating framed as paid companionship, solicitation of any form of payment in exchange for sexual acts, and any advertising of such services. Zero tolerance: the account is permanently banned on the first confirmed occurrence.

2.3 Content involving minors. Any content that sexualises a minor, any account belonging to a person under 18, any attempt by an adult to contact a minor. Zero tolerance: the account is permanently banned, the content is preserved as evidence and removed from the service, and the incident is escalated to the competent law enforcement authorities where the law so requires. See the Age Verification Policy.

2.4 Harassment, abuse and threats. Abusive, threatening, intimidating or defamatory messages, stalking, unsolicited sexual messages, and encouragement of self-harm or harm to others.

2.5 Hate speech and discrimination. Content promoting racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm against any group or individual on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, gender, age, sexual orientation or gender identity.

2.6 Violence and criminal activity. Graphic violence, glorification of violence, instructions for illegal activity, and content concerning illegal weapons.

2.7 Illegal or regulated goods. Sale of, or references to the sale of, narcotics and other controlled substances, weapons, counterfeit goods, stolen data or documents.

2.8 Fraud, scams and financial solicitation. Romance fraud, investment and cryptocurrency solicitation, phishing, requests for money, gift cards or account credentials, and any attempt to move a user to an off-platform payment.

2.9 Impersonation and fake profiles. Photos of another person, celebrity photos, stock imagery presented as the user, false identity claims, and duplicate or bot accounts.

2.10 Spam and unauthorised commercial use. Mass unsolicited messaging, advertising, recruitment for other services or platforms, and use of the service for any commercial purpose without the Company's written consent.

2.11 Third-party rights. Copyrighted material used without permission, and personal data of third parties (contact details, documents, private correspondence) published without their consent.

3. How moderation works

3.1 Pre-publication review of every account (gating control)

SoulMatcher does not publish profiles automatically. Every newly registered account enters a moderation queue and is reviewed by a human moderator, who examines the photographs, the declared age, the profile text and the links provided. A profile is not visible to any other user, and the account holder has no access to discovery, likes or messaging, until a moderator has approved it. The restriction is enforced on the server for every user-facing API route, not in the client application, so it cannot be bypassed by a modified client.

Approval can be withdrawn at any time, which returns the account to the queue and removes it from discovery.

3.2 Automated checks on upload

Every photograph uploaded to the service is passed to an automated face-detection service which records how many human faces the image contains. Images with no detectable human face (a common signal for pictures of objects, screenshots, advertising material or collages) are flagged for a moderator. Automated detection informs but never replaces the human decision: no account is banned by an automated system alone.

3.3 Photo verification

Users may be asked, and moderators may request, a verification photograph taken in the moment. A moderator compares it against the profile photographs and either grants or refuses the “verified” badge; a refusal notifies the user. Verification is revoked automatically if the underlying photographs are deleted.

3.4 Reporting by users

Reporting tools are available in the discovery feed, in the list of incoming likes and inside every chat, so that a user can report both a profile they have not yet spoken to and a person they are already talking to. The reporting form offers the following categories, ordered so that safety categories come first:

  1. Abusive behaviour or nudity
  2. Underage
  3. Scam
  4. Sale or mentions of drugs
  5. Not my type (a preference signal, not a safety report)

Submitting a report has two immediate effects: the reported user is blocked for the reporter at once, without waiting for the moderation decision, and an incident record is delivered to the moderation mailbox (info@soulmatcher.app) with the reporter's identifier and the selected category.

Anyone, including a person without an account, may also report content by writing to info@soulmatcher.app, as stated in the Terms of Service.

3.5 Ongoing monitoring

In addition to reacting to reports, the moderation team runs periodic sweeps of the live population: automated re-scans of profile photographs, review of newly uploaded photos, and review of accounts flagged internally. Moderators can attach an internal comment to an account so that a history of concerns follows it.

3.6 Safety by design

Two product decisions reduce the volume of abuse before moderation is needed. Messaging is double opt-in: a conversation can begin only after both users have expressed interest, so unsolicited contact with a stranger is not possible by default. And every user can block any other user at any moment, from the feed or from a chat, which removes them from both users' discovery permanently and prevents any further contact.

4. Enforcement

Moderators apply the least severe measure that resolves the violation, and escalate for repeat or severe cases:

MeasureEffect
Removal of an item of contentThe individual photograph or field is deleted from the account. Deleting a photo automatically revokes the verified badge and, if no photo remains, returns the profile to an incomplete state.
Hiding from discoveryThe account stops appearing in any other user's feed while remaining accessible to its owner, pending correction or investigation.
Withdrawal of approvalThe account returns to the moderation queue and loses access to discovery and messaging until re-approved.
Revocation of verificationThe verified badge is removed and the user is notified.
Suspension or permanent banAccess is terminated. All authentication tokens are deleted, which signs the user out of every device immediately, and the account is removed from discovery for everyone.
Escalation to authoritiesFor content involving minors, credible threats of violence, or other conduct that the law requires to be reported.

Categories 2.2 (commercial sexual services) and 2.3 (content involving minors) carry an immediate permanent ban on the first confirmed occurrence. Fraud and impersonation normally carry an immediate ban. Other categories may be met with content removal and a warning where the violation is plainly accidental.

Because an account is bound to a verified telephone number, a banned person cannot simply re-register with the same number.

5. Response times

EventTarget
Review of a newly registered accountBefore the profile becomes visible to anyone. No profile is published unreviewed.
Report in a priority category (underage, nudity or sexual content, threats, fraud)Reviewed within 24 hours of receipt.
Report in any other categoryReviewed within 72 hours of receipt.
Removal of content once a violation is confirmedImmediately upon the decision.
Protective block for the reporting userInstant and automatic, at the moment the report is submitted.

6. Team, access and record keeping

Moderation is performed by the Company's own staff. Access to the moderation console is restricted to two internal roles, Administrator and Manager, granted individually by the Company's management, and the console is not reachable by ordinary user accounts. Moderator actions on an account (approval, withdrawal of approval, blocking, verification decisions, content deletion, internal comments) are recorded in an audit log together with the acting account and the timestamp, so that every decision is attributable and can be reviewed.

Reports, moderation decisions and the associated audit records are retained for as long as required for safety, dispute resolution and legal purposes, and are then deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy. Users may request deletion of their data at https://app.soulmatcher.app/data-deletion.

7. Appeals

A user whose content was removed, whose verification was refused or whose account was suspended may appeal by writing to info@soulmatcher.app. Appeals are reviewed by a moderator who was not the author of the original decision, and the outcome is communicated to the user by email or in-app notification, as a rule within five business days. Bans for content involving minors and for commercial sexual services are final.

8. Review of this Policy

This Policy is reviewed at least once a year and whenever the service, the applicable law or the requirements of the Company's payment partners change. The current version is maintained by the Company and is available on request.
