Version 1.0. Effective 19 August 2026. Reviewed at least annually.

1. Statement of principle

SoulMatcher is a service for adults only. Registration, use of the service and any purchase are restricted to natural persons who are at least 18 years of age. The Company does not knowingly permit any person under 18 to hold an account, and removes any such account as soon as it becomes aware of it.

This requirement is published to users before they register:

  • the Terms of Service (https://soulmatcher.app/terms-of-service/) state, in capitals in the introductory section, that by using the service the user represents that they are over 18 years old;
  • the Privacy Policy (https://soulmatcher.app/privacy-policy/) states that the app and the website are not designed for and do not target persons of 18 years of age and younger;
  • both mobile applications carry an 18+ age rating in the Apple App Store and in Google Play, so that platform-level parental controls apply;
  • the store listings describe the product as a matchmaking service for adults (18+).

The service does not contain pornographic or adult content, and the age restriction exists because the service concerns dating and relationships between adults.

2. Controls applied at registration

Age is established at registration through a combination of controls, each of which is enforced on the Company's servers and not only in the client application.

2.1 Verified telephone number. An account can be created only against a telephone number confirmed by a one-time code (SMS, flash call or Telegram, depending on the country). One account per number. This ties the account to a real, obtainable line and prevents anonymous mass registration.

2.2 Confirmed email address. During onboarding the user must enter an email address and confirm it with a one-time code sent to that address. The confirmed address is the channel used for account and billing correspondence.

2.3 Declared date of birth, with an enforced minimum. The user must enter a date of birth. In the applications the date picker cannot be moved past the date exactly 18 years before today, so a date of birth that would make the user a minor cannot be entered at all. Independently of the client, the Company's API rejects any profile whose date of birth is later than the date 18 years before the current day. A modified or third-party client therefore cannot register an underage account.

2.4 Age shown and used throughout. The age derived from the date of birth is displayed on the profile and used by matching preferences, whose lower bound cannot be set below 18. An inconsistency between the declared age and the profile is therefore visible both to moderators and to other users.

3. Human review before the account becomes usable

No profile is published automatically. Every newly registered account is reviewed by a human moderator before it becomes visible to anyone and before its holder gains access to discovery or messaging; the restriction is enforced server-side on every user-facing API route.

During that review the moderator examines the photographs against the declared age. Where the photographs suggest that the person may be under 18, or are inconsistent with the declared date of birth, the moderator does not approve the account, and instead either requests photo verification or blocks the account. Approval can also be withdrawn later, at any time, which immediately removes the profile from discovery.

4. Photo verification

The service provides a verification flow in which the user submits a photograph taken in the moment, which a moderator compares with the profile photographs. Moderators can request verification from a specific user, or from groups of unverified users, and a successful check grants a visible “verified” badge; a refusal notifies the user. Photo verification is the Company's principal escalation tool where the age or identity shown by a profile is in doubt.

In addition, every uploaded photograph is passed automatically to a face-detection service which records whether a human face is present, so that profiles built from images that are not portraits of the account holder are surfaced for review.

5. Ongoing controls after registration

5.1 A dedicated reporting category. “Underage” is one of the five report categories available to users in the discovery feed, in the list of incoming likes and in every chat. It is placed among the safety categories at the top of the list. Submitting a report immediately blocks the reported account for the reporter and delivers the incident to the moderation mailbox.

5.2 Priority handling. Reports of a suspected minor are treated as a priority category and are reviewed within 24 hours of receipt.

5.3 Outcome. Where a review confirms, or cannot exclude on the evidence, that the account holder is under 18, the account is blocked. Blocking deletes all authentication tokens, which signs the person out of every device immediately, and removes the profile from discovery for every user. The account is not reinstated. Related content is removed, and where any content sexualising a minor is involved, it is preserved as evidence and the incident is escalated to the competent law enforcement authorities as the law requires.

5.4 No re-registration with the same line. Because accounts are bound to a verified telephone number, a removed account cannot be recreated with the same number.

6. Controls at the payment stage

Purchases are an additional adult signal rather than the primary control, since age is already established before any account can be used:

  • purchases made in the mobile applications are processed by Apple and Google against the user's own store account, subject to those platforms' own age and parental-control rules;
  • purchases made on the web are processed by the Company's acquiring partner and require a payment card issued to the account holder by a regulated financial institution, with 3-D Secure authentication where the issuer applies it. Cards issued to minors are restricted by the issuers themselves;
  • the payer must in every case be the holder of the account, which has already passed telephone verification, email confirmation, the 18+ date-of-birth check and human review.

The Company does not sell adult content, and no age-restricted goods are supplied.

The handling of such reports, and of every other category of prohibited content, is set out in the Content Moderation Policy (https://soulmatcher.app/content-moderation-policy/).

7. Staff, records and review

Age decisions are taken by the Company's own moderation staff, working in an access controlled console limited to the Administrator and Manager roles. Moderator actions, including approvals, withdrawals of approval, blocks and verification decisions, are written to an audit log with the acting account and the timestamp.

Records of age-related reports and of the decisions taken on them are retained for as long as required for safety and legal purposes and are then deleted in accordance with the Privacy Policy. A user may request deletion of their data at https://app.soulmatcher.app/data-deletion.

Questions about this Policy, and reports of a suspected minor on the service, should be addressed to info@soulmatcher.app.

8. Review of this Policy

This Policy is reviewed at least once a year and whenever the service, the applicable law or the requirements of the Company's payment partners change.
